MY THEME FOR THIS YEAR CAN BE SUMMED UP IN ONE STATEMENT, “ SUPPORT THE HOMIES”. I MADE IT A MISSION TO FIND WAYS TO SUPPORT MY FRIENDS. AND IT HONESTLY PAID OFF! TURNS OUT I HAVE SOME REALLY AMAZING FRIENDS.

GOING TO ODESSA WAS ONE OF THOSE SUPPORT THE HOMIES TYPE OF ADVENTURES I’VE BEEN ON THIS YEAR. CHRIS OF ODESSA TATTOO COLLECTIVE HAD HIS HANDS FULL WITH THE SECOND ANNUAL OIL CITY TATTOO CONVENTION. BUT I GOTTA SAY, HE PULLED IT OFF.

I DID THIS SHOW LAST YEAR AND IF IM BEING HONEST IT WAS NOT MY BUSIEST OUTING OF THE YEAR. BUT I DID BELIEVE IN MY FRIENDS VISION. SO I STUCK ON FOR THIS NEXT YEAR. BRINGING WITH ME AN OFFICIAL SHOW SPONSOR AND FOUR BOOTHS OF ARTISTs. SO TO SAY I WENT ALL IN IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. i was completely overwhelmed and under prepared. as time drew closer i had more and more artists have to drop from the show. it’s something i lowkey expected. my original group was 6 booths and 12 artists. and looking back maybe that was a bit overly ambitious. but you live and you learn. so after a million mishaps and multiple miscommunicstions we wer finally set and everyone was locked in.

or so i thought.

i did lose one more artist the day of, but what are you gonna do, right. so we start the show and it seems slow then the 6:00 rush starts. but its more of a slight scurry and less of a rush. friday ends with a slight increase in momentum so we are all hopeful for saturday.this is typical and pretty much expected at every show. so we ain’t trippin foo. we get to the show saturday and i set up to tattoo a half day session. my guy shows up and after a good hour of jokes we get to work. i spend a full day tattooing and catching up. so it’s a good time. the rest of the team is just cranking out work. saturday proves to be more than it could be. we did have issues with the level of the music especially being in a booth close to and facing the stage. but somehow it still works out despite the having to yell. the day ends with a good energy and we are all ready to crush on sunday.

the third and final day starts with a chill vibe and momentum. but steadily people start trickling in for their appointments set the day before. sunday cruised by and we end the show in a good mood.everyone did well and want to come back next year. so it was a success. and i am relieved

im glad i chose to stay on for this convention this year it really gave me hope in building something for next year. it gave me quick sense of what it takes to travel with a team of artists.and gave me a better insight on how im going to build this. i am looking forward to what i have planned for next year. and i hope you are all here for it!
